bp is killing me, energy, and rand paul, libertarian

heya,
so, it's been a little while. i do have a couple of thoughts for now.
1) bp - this is an absolute disaster. the only positive that i pray can come out of this is that we as a country will begin to change our energy policy.

Tom Friedman constantly talks about it. Robert Redford was on Olberman the other day and he was talking about it. How do we change the culture of this country!?!?! Redford was saying we had a chance to change energy policy 30 years ago - pre-Reagan, like the economy, and this country decided to put it off. How disappointing we look back on that time and that generation. I wasn't there, but I want to know the reason these decisions were made. What if this country reacted the same way in WWII?

Today's article in the NY Times reports oil is tied to Lousiana, and the statefolk isn't calling for a drastic change in policy. Yet, the article also states, Louisiana is one of the poorer states in the union.

2) there's Rand Paul. This is another disaster turned opportunity. Days after getting eaten alive on TRMS for saying he would have liked to modify 1964 CRA, particularly the part about private business and government intervention (think Woolworth lunchcounters), he calls out the Obama administration for getting angry at BP about this mess. Well I never. If you're thinking Tea Party to the rescue - you now know the house has burned down. i guess you're next step is militia in idaho.

We've got some nuggets here. This is all politics, but business is coming.
